Windows Live Writer – A better way to publish?

It’s no secret that the Host of this blog and the guest writers post rather-infrequently.   My pet theory is that the WordPress editor is so piss-poor for handling images and other tasks that it’s not worth the trouble.    I’ve known that Windows Live writer has been available for some time, but I’ve just now gotten around to installing it.   I already did a few test posts to “my” blog: http://brnvndr.blogspot.com/, and it worked seamlessly.  In no particular order, here are the qualities I’m looking for publishing:

  • rich text editing – I want to feel like I’m writing in a real word processor and not some crappy little widget.
  • Seamless drafting, publishing, editing – I don’t want to have aborted posts because of some browser timeout, or accidental posts I wasn’t ready to publish, etc
  • Simple image handling – It’s 2010, where is my drag-and-drop picture inserts into the text body?
  • Post Preview – I want to know how it looks before I publish.

So far, Live Writer has done an exemplary job of handling these tasks… I’m impressed

In all honesty, you've nicely summarized some great selling points to the Live Writer app. I've been surprised that I haven't come across any Mozilla Thunderbird-caliber open source equivalent although I think the KDE desktop folks have just introduced a desktop blog writing app in their suite, I need to look up what it's called…

Hilarious update! … closed on account of being an exact duplicate of my Live Writer post from a while back… http://rivalrockets.com/blog/2008/11/live-write...
